The Ven. Dr. Mark Stevenson
Mark met his wife, The Rev. Canon Karen Baker Stevenson at Ascension, they were married at Ascension, and they were both ordained to serve at Ascension. They left in 2000 to serve at Trinity Church in Washington, PA and returned to Pittsburgh many years later after a wonderful period of service in Washington. Mark is the long-time Archdeacon of the diocese (thus the title, Venerable).
Mark had a long career as a professor of theatre and as an actor in Pittsburgh before moving to Trinity School for Ministry. He retired in 2016 from his position as the Academic Dean at the seminary. He continues to pursue acting and was more recently cast in A Man Called Otto (2022), and Where’d You Go, Bernadette (2019). He is excited to be serving since 2019 as Ascension’s deacon!
So… from 1979 to 2019. It’s been a 40-year journey beginning at Ascension and coming back to Ascension.
