Employment Opportunity
Church of the Ascension seeks a Director of Children’s Formation. A position description and application details can be found here.

What’s this all about?
James 2:15-16 invites us to put our faith into practice by sharing what we have with those who do not. In the spirit of St. James, the Refugee Ministry is seeking donations of new and like-new winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves and mittens to help prepare our 10+ refugee families for winter. Sizes requested: Newborn to Adult XL and Tall. On Sundays October 19, 26, and November 2, bring your donations to the St. James Coat Rack located near the Connection Desk, right here at church, either before or after services. Thank you, Church of the Ascension, for your compassion and generosity!!

Offer hospitality this Thanksgiving
We would like to match internationals with host families for Thanksgiving. Please email LuAnn to express your interest. Thanks!

Women of the Parish! Sat, Nov 1 at 9am
You are invited to a breakfast on Saturday, November 1st (9am – 11:30am). We are excited that Dana Henry has agreed to guide us through a morning of connection, play, and learning on the theme “Interrupted.” Dana attends the 9am service along with her husband, Canon Bill. She is a licensed professional counselor. Best of all, she is a very fun and energetic disciple of Jesus with a passion for people to live whole and healed lives! Come ready for a great morning together. The cost is $15 (or pay what you can!) Register on the app.

Ascension Chamber Players: Sat, Nov 1st at 4pm
We welcome you to a concert hosted by Ascension’s music ministry featuring brothers Stephen Mayhew (violin) and William Mayhew (violin) playing works by Massa, Bach and Grieg.

Ideally it’s best to pay using the Church Center app. However you can also bring cash or a check to the event. Limited childcare is available – we have space for 15 kids. Please let us know when you register if you plan to bring any children.

Loving Your (Muslim) Neighbors 2.0: Sun, Nov 16 at 12:45pm

Stay after church on Sunday, Nov. 16th for a time of equipping with special guests. We will hear from experienced practitioners who will compare the Muslim and Christian stories and share practical wisdom for everyday, cross-cultural relationships with your neighbors. Attendees from last year’s event are welcome! Lunch will be provided. RSVP on the app. Contact Daniel Behrens for more information!

New? Interested in finding out more about Ascension or Anglicanism? Start here! Sat, Dec 6 at 1pm
Bring all your questions and join us for this half-day introductory course with Father Peter. We’ll enjoy pastries and coffee while chatting about our Anglican heritage, who we are as a local congregation in Pittsburgh, and how you might connect more deeply to our community. We look forward to getting to know you! For those who are ready to put down roots here at Ascension, this class is also part of the pathway to church membership. Sign up here or contact Jess Bennett with any questions. Childcare is available for kids 5 and under.

Come and have some fun on December 7th from 5 – 8pm
St. Nick’s Night Market is an opportunity for our church to celebrate the artists and creators in our congregation while also inviting our neighbors to experience the light of Christ. Art, decorations, books, baked goods, and other homemade items will be for sale. There will also be food trucks, live organ performances, architecture tours of our church, and activities for kids. And of course, it wouldn’t be St. Nick’s night without St. Nick offering rides in his sleigh for the children!
